UV-Marker for use with Methyl Anthranilate (MA)-based bird repellents

InvisiDye UV Marker is an ultraviolet fluorescent dye formulated for use with methyl anthranilate (MA)-based bird repellents such as Avian Control® or Bird Stop®. When applied together, the combination is designed to pair a visual UV marker with the sensory properties of the repellent. The MA-based repellent is intended to influence bird activity through chemosensory pathways, while InvisiDye provides a visual signal on treated surfaces that may contribute to site recognition and avoidance behaviors over time.

Numerous bird species — including pigeons, starlings, Canada geese, seagulls, and swallows — possess tetrachromatic vision associated with the detection of ultraviolet light in the 200–400 nm spectrum, a range not visible to the human eye. InvisiDye is formulated to create a UV-visible marker on treated surfaces, providing a visual cue that birds may perceive differently than humans.

Birds exposed to the repellent solution may experience sensory effects associated with methyl anthranilate (MA), which is understood to interact with trigeminal and chemosensory pathways and may contribute to avoidance behaviors. Unlike visual or auditory scare devices, sensory deterrents are intended to discourage bird activity through a different mode of action. InvisiDye’s UV signal is designed to provide a visual marker associated with treated areas and may support site avoidance behaviors over time.
